Supply Chain Director
LeMieux is the UK’s fastest-growing equestrian and lifestyle brand, with a global community and big ambitions. Our success is driven by talented people who share our passion for innovation, collaboration, and excellence. We’re seeking a Supply Chain Director to join our team and help shape the future of our brand.
What You’ll Do
This role is currently being filled by an interim Operations Director who has improved our own UK warehouse processes and efficiency, opened a US 3PL, and onboarded a new freight forwarder that has stock consolidation hubs for more efficient shipping to distribution warehouses. We want to bring in a permanent replacement, with a broader remit than the current role, particularly incorporating supply chain planning and inventory management to build on these foundations that have been established. This will involve a realignment in responsibilities across the business.
The Supply Chain Director will report into the Chief Financial & Operating Officer (CFOO). The role will be part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) with regular engagement and interaction with the CEO.
As the business has grown, we now have a large range (c13,000 SKU’s) mainly being sourced from many suppliers across Asia that is being consolidated into Asian hubs before being shipped to our own warehouse in the UK, and 3PL’s in the USA & EU. From these warehouses we then service wholesale customers and our D2C channels (owned e-comm site and Amazon). The business has seasonal ranges that create a large volume and value of orders for wholesale customers and then separately has a peak sales period in Q4 via D2C.
With the strength and depth of our consumer proposition, we have an ambitious growth plan. At the heart of this role will be drive OTIF for key product launches and a ‘never out of stock’ programme whilst also reducing the cost-to-serve from the supplier through to the customer.
The Supply Chain Director will be responsible for the design, planning, and execution of our global supply chain owning the integrated demand & supply plan, translating these forecasts into executable purchasing (with merchandising & buying), freight, warehousing, fulfilment, and capacity plans to ensure that we have the right inventory, in the right place, at the right time, and at the best cost, to ensure our customers (and our employees and suppliers) have a great experience. A big part of the role will be balancing availability / cost-to-serve / resilience / working capital requirements - this must always be through the lens of supporting the customer proposition, profitably.
There are c65 people across the supply chain team, of which c55 are warehouse operatives. Determining the right capabilities and structure across the team, and in particular ensuring that key roles are filled by great talent, will be fundamental.
The principal responsibilities of the role are:
Build & lead a capable supply-chain team
Assess, build, and lead the supply-chain team, with the capabilities required to support growing the business, profitably, whilst driving a culture of continuous improvement.
Create an environment of data-led decision making anchored in customer service and profitability, ensuring the team understand the commercial & financial impact of decisions.

Develop a clear plan for inventory & supply response should there be a material change in demand
Own the S&OP process & plan
Develop the demand forecast process, including the rolling 12-month demand forecast (owned by the regional commercial leads) and the mechanism by which it translates into a supply plan and hence a financial forecast (in conjunction with the finance team).
Convert the demand plan into a supply & inventory plan i.e. the intake plan from factories; despatch plan from the freight forwarder warehouses to receiving warehouses; stock cover required for different classification of products; deals with the variability in the forecast & shipping times; ensures cost efficiency v working capital requirement and storage costs.
Identify supply constraints with recommendations to resolve challenges
Drive the inventory management plan
Recommend the inventory management plan to the CFOO & CEO, based on achieving OTIF targets and reduced cost-to-serve.
Actively participate in the product lifecycle management process (new ranges / SKU’s; seasonal collections; dealing with slow moving, obsolete, or discontinued stock) and drive stock health and efficiency.
Manage key supplier chain partnerships to achieve our objectives
Own the strategic relationship with the freight forwarder, negotiating and validating rates (including surcharges) & service levels and ensuring sufficient capacity at the necessary times.
Set the warehouse operating strategy for wholesale & D2C fulfilment across the UK owned warehouse and the US & EU 3PL’s. For the UK, ensure clear accountability for safety, service, productivity, accuracy & cost. For the 3PL’s, ensure we have the right partners and contracts in place to drive high standards and performance, at the right cost.
Ensure that we have the right logistics providers in place for deliveries (service & cost) and that they have the capacity to scale during peak & seasonal spikes.
Establish, with the customer service team, an efficient and effective process for dealing with shortages, delivery failures, returns, and refunds.
Drive effectiveness and efficiency through systems and data
Own the supply-chain systems road map, in partnership with IT & finance, and ensure effective use of systems such as; ERP; forecasting and planning; WMS; freight management systems; 3PL interfaces; etc.
Establish a single view of inventory (from orders through to projected availability).
Ensure ownership of master data across the supply chain.
Take accountability for and drive financial performance across the supply chain
Own and prepare budgets & forecasts and understand variances to a flexed plan (supported by finance).
Identify how to drive productivity and cost-saving programmes without compromising service.

Put in place controls for airfreight; overtime; exceptional distribution charges; and any other material costs.
Work with the CFO to understand and manage working capital requirements
Measures of success:
High customer service levels (OTIF), particularly during seasonal peaks and for the ‘never out of stock’ products whilst managing working capital requirements.
Clear understanding of landed costs to enable better decision making, and the development and execution of a plan to improve cost-to-serve.
Credible strategic and operational plans agreed and executed with merchandising, buying, commercial, supply chain, and finance.
A resilient supply chain with practical contingency plans
